APOPKA, Florida- The NGA Hooters Professional Golf Tour’s Winter Series visited Rock Springs Ridge Golf Club this week, where Grand Rapids, Michigan native Eric Jorgensen took home the first place prize of $10,000.00 after posting a final round 67 to get him to 9-under par. Jorgensen, a 3rd team All American out of Michigan State University, whose credentials include an impressive Big 10 Championship in 2002, stated that the key to his victory this week was steady play and just having fun. The steady play is evident by Jorgensen only making (1) one bogey all week but the having fun part is something Eric will have a hard time convincing the other 101 professionals in the field where the 7,188 yd par 72 West-North course played almost 2 strokes over the course rating. “I was 7-under par going into the 16th hole and I didn’t really know what the leaders were doing behind me. I made a great putt from 15 feet for birdie on the 16th which put me at 8-under and I got it to 9-under on 17 after chipping in from off of the front of the green.” Jorgensen started the day 3 strokes behind leaders Dan Stone (St. Petersburg, FL) and Kevin Gessino-Kraft (Cleveland, Ohio) who were at 7-under and 2 shots behind Savannah, Georgia’s Tim O’neal (-6).
