Big Ben!

Former Hooters Tour Winner Ben Curtis Wins British Open
Sandwich, England…Just 1 year removed from NGA/Hooters Tour, PGA Tour rookie Ben Curtis shocked the golf world by winning the 132nd British Open at Royal St. George's.

In only his 16th PGA Tour start, Curtis bettered the likes of Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, and Vijay Singh to become the first player since 1913 to win the first major championship he ever played.

"It's unbelievable," Curtis said. "Honestly, just playing on the weekend would have been fine for me. I just kept trying to play along. You never know what's going to happen."

Despite four bogeys on the final seven holes, the 26 year old from Ostrander, Ohio closed with a 2-under 69 and was the only player under par on the difficult links of Royal St. George's.

In two seasons on The NGA/Hooters Tour Curtis was a model of consistency, winning only once (Myrtle Beach, SC-2002), but making 23 of 25 cuts while earning $91,548. Meanwhile his payday for winning the British Open is in excess of $1.1 million.

Prior to Sunday's win his best finish in his rookie season on the PGA Tour was a tie for 13th at the Western Open, which ironically allowed him to qualify for the British Open.
