NGA Hooters Tour Well Represented At
104th U.S. Open

Zach Johnson, winner of the 2004 BellSouth Classic earlier this year, and Chad
Campbell, winner of the 2003 Tour Championship and the 2004 Bay Hill
Invitational, are two of eleven former Hooters Tour players to gain full exempt
status for the 2004 US Open Championship, scheduled from June 17-20 at the
Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.
This impressive list includes 2003 British Open
champion Ben Curtis, 2003 PGA Champion Shaun Micheel, Jim Furyk the reigning US
Open champ, Stewart Cink, Steve Flesch, Two-time US Open champion Lee Janzen,
Jerry Kelly, Cliff Kresge, and David Toms.
While these players gained exempt status into the
Championship based on their PGA performances, a group of current and former
Hooters Tour members fought through Local and Sectional Qualifiers to gain one
of the remaining 80 spots.
In Kahuku, Hawaii, Parker
McLachlin, winner of the 2004 Hooters Golden Corner Charity Classic, took
medalist honors to advance to his first US Open. McLachlin wasn’t the only
current member to take medalist honors, as David Roesch and Andrew Tschudin took
those honors in St. Louis, MO and Midway, PA respectively. Current members, Joey
Maxon and Eric Axley fired two round totals of 138 and 139 to move through the
Columbus, Ohio Sectional on their way to Shinnecock.
2003 Member and current PGA Tour member Dan Olsen
heads up a list of former Hooters Tour players that will represent the Hooters
Tour in New York next week.
