Blogs >> Hooters Tour Player Poll Answers
Well, after several exhausting weeks of tracking down you guys to put your answers in I have finally received enough votes to post the first (sort of) official Hooters Tour Player Poll. Enjoy...and don't shoot the messenger.
1. Best putter- Jeff Corr/ Ted Potter- This was a very hard fought category with the votes being split evenly among 4 players. In the end the top two money winners so far this year came out with the most votes suggesting the old adage "Drive for show, putt for dough" is alive and well on the Hooters Tour. Andrew Medley and Nick Rousey were not far behind.
2. Longest Driver- Brandon Brown/Ryan Brehm- Another close category with Brandon and Ryan sharing the honors in the "big bomber" category. I can't wait to be the guy paired with them in a threesome next tournament.
3. Best player not to have won a tournament- Russell Knox- Several players decided to vote for themselves in this category, but with 10 (count 'em! I did) second place finishes on both the Hooters and the Hooters Winter
Series, Roo is a deserving winner. The boy from Scotland has some game and obviously many, including myself, believe that first oversized novelty check can't be far around the corner.
4. Player who gets the most female attention- David Skinns- Now, as Skinnsys' roommate I can attest to this being a completely false claim. I mean, the dude cries himself into his pillow most nights a week. But I can't argue with the masses and with only two votes going against him (both for PGA Tour super-stud James Nitties) Skinnsy has clearly staked his claim as the man most likely to have a groupie.
5. Favorite player to play with- Todd Bailey- This was a tough category to find a winner with most players voting for their close friends. Bails came out a winner, probably because of his ability to match his socks with his Titleist hat day in and day out. It was definitely not because of the random push ups he busted out on the 11th tee at Royal Lakes this year while encouraging his still airborne ball to stay out of the water.
6. Favorite rules official- Jeff Harlow- A Tour legend if there ever was one. Harlow won this one going away.
7. Player most likely to make an impact on the PGA Tour in the next 5 years- David Skinns/Blaine Peffley- A large cross section of votes dominated this question with Skinnsy and Pef the only two to get more than one vote. We've got a lot of talent out here.
8. Biggest party animal- Travis Bertoni/"Me when I was younger"- While Bert does have a true love for all things larger, several players nominated themselves, but only in their formative years. Whether that means the Hooters Tour cast of characters is getting older or that golfers are becoming more health conscious, I do not know. Either way it's a sad state of affairs. Side Note- Donald "Where is the Wild Turkey?" Davis received one vote in this category.
9. Favorite Tournament- McCormick, South Carolina- This was another hands-down winner, and with good reason. Not many other tournaments provide housing for nearly every player on tour, AND throw in a fishing tournament for good measure. This year I even heard one player suggest we play an entire series there- the cool thing is, they would probably be happy to have us.
10. Best athlete on tour- Shaun Stefani- This category was also a hard one to find a winner- many simply didn't know who to pick. I think Shaun came out on top because he looks like he could max out by bench pressing a Cadillac Eldorado.
11. Favorite sports team- This category had no clear winner. The Boston Red Sox got a vote, the Chicago White Sox got a vote. The Australian rugby team got a vote; the South African rugby team got a vote. The University of Florida got a vote; the University of Georgia got a vote. Come on people; make up your minds (just no more votes for the South Africans, ok?).
12. Best Dressed- Manny Villegas - Pimped out in his form-hugging J. Lindeberg outfits Manny showed his big bro that he's not the only stylish one in the family. Worst Dressed- Kelly Sellers- Kelly, well...he'd probably rather be hunting than shopping anyway.
13. Biggest problem the tour currently faces- The economic crisis- While "Finding quality courses" received a lot of votes, the economic crisis is looming large over all sectors of the American landscape. Now, how about a bail out for hot wing-themed restaurants who sponsor professional golf tours?!
14. Best short game- Ben Briscoe- Biscuits ended up winning this category quite easily. As a fellow player once exclaimed, "Benny, you left-handers must come out of the womb with great short games". I didn't have the heart to tell him Ben only had the third-best short game on his college team.
15. Funniest player on Tour- Nick Mackay/T.J Shelton- While I would love nothing more than to win a category in my own player survey, I must admit I myself voted for T.J, and therefore must defer my winning vote to him. He's funny, I don't care who you are.
16. Worst Temper- This was a contentious category and I would like to point out I had nothing to do with the results. The winner, in the end, was Kelly Sellers, a result I believe might based more on reputation than anything else.
17. Coolest car on tour- We obviously don't have a lot of petrol heads on tour because many chose not to answer this one. Patrick Wilkes-Krier and his sporty, blue Subaru WRX came out on top, although I did receive several votes, mostly from those jealous of my 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage with 220,000 miles on it and more craters than a teenagers face.
18. Course you would most like to see a Hooters Tour event played on- Augusta National. I know Robin has some pull, but this might be just out of his reach.
