Blogs >> Don't Be Scared to Gamble On A Hard 16

Well, the NGA Hooters Tour has packed up and headed west from Dothan, Alabama and arrived at one of the tour's regular stops- the Silver Star Hotel & Casino Golf Classic presented by Michelob Ultra, hosted by the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course in Choctaw, Mississippi. I have been coming to this event for a few years now and have always enjoyed the course as well as the host casinos where most of the players will be staying this week.

Tucked away in rural eastern Mississippi, the Pearl River Resort attracts tourists from all across the south willing to test their luck on the tables and the slots. This week about 170 golfers will be infiltrating the regular gamblers and holiday makers looking to strike it big at Silver Star.

This event used to be held closer to the middle of the summer, and the resulting heat and humidity would often take its toll on the players. The past two years this event has been played towards the end of the Hooters Tour schedule and the tournament has been better for it. Not only do we not have to deal with close to 100% humidity, the golf course itself is in much better shape when it is not at the mercy of the height of summer heat. Right now Dancing Rabbit is probably in the best shape I have seen it.

Designed by Jerry Pate, the course features a tough layout that demands good ball striking. The bent greens require precise spin control and many of the holes allow for various club selection from the tee. Just like the Silver Star Casino, there are plenty of areas where you can gamble at Dancing Rabbit. The tournament winner is going to need to play well from tee to green and control the areas where they take their chances.

So enjoy the week guys, and don't be scared to gamble on a hard 16 or or take on that sucker pin. See you out there.
