Friday, March 06, 2009...Well, I can’t say much for my play this week, but somebody must be making some putts out there…I think. The weather has been perfect the past couple days and some of the scores have warmed up along with the temperatures.

Nick Rousey certainly hasn’t had any difficulties on the greens so far, posting -9 through two rounds. The boy can sure roll his rock and must be doing it well on some challenging putting surfaces…then again, we all have to putt on them right? At least everybody not named Richard Swift who went ahead and holed out on number 18 today in the group behind me to post even par for the tournament. Way to cut it close there Swifty! That’s my nomination for shot of the week so far.

Nick and mate Ben BriscoeOne interesting fact I did learn from the local pro today was the notion that there exists a rodent eradication device known as a “gophenator”. Apparently, this is a process where by they pump hydrogen and other flammable substances down the gopher holes on golf courses that are suffering from infestations. Maybe these furry critters are tunneling in from the construction site over yonder, I’m not sure. Regardless, the openings of the hole are then lit and the course explodes in what I can only imagine is an exact replication of the final scene in the seminal golf movie Caddyshack. If you have not seen it, you will not get the previous joke and you should be forced to turn in your Hooters Tour membership card immediately. What you end up with then, is barbeque gopher and an end to your infestation. You learn
something new everyday.  (pictured left Nick and mate Ben Briscoe)
