The ADI Classic
Cherry Blossom Golf & CC
May 15-18, 2008
Georgetown, KY (May 18, 2008)…Mark Blakefield (Maysville, KY) carded a three-under par 69 in the final round of The ADI Classic over the 6842 yard, par 72 Cherry Blossom Golf Club to garner his first career professional win.“It felt great playing in front of my family, friends and the Kentucky crowd," said Blakefield after the round.
Blakefield, a Kentucky graduate, fired rounds of 70-68-71-69 for a four day total of ten-under par 278 and a three stroke victory over Travis Bertoni (Pasa Robles, CA) with his good friend Drew on the bag. Bertoni also closed with a three-under par 69 for a four day total of seven-under par 281.
With the rough cut at about four and a half inches, accuracy off the tee was vital, and Blakefield felt that was one of the keys to his win. “I drove the ball well all week, which let me be aggressive into the greens.”
Blakefield collects a career best $33,566 for his first career professional win, while Bertoni takes home $16,735 for his runner-up finish.
The NGA/Hooters Tour heads east to the LakeChesdin Golf Club in Chesterfield, VA for the $200,000, Base Camp Realty/Chesdin Landing Open, the week of May 19 – 25.
