Bentonville, AR (June 15, 2008)...Exuding confidence from a great short game and a new putter, Ben Briscoe (Old Colwin, Wales) fired a closing round, even par 71, to finish fifteen (-15) under for the week, earning a two-stroke victory at the $200,000 Daisy Golf Classic. The 25 year old from Old Colwin, Wales went wire-to-wire carding rounds of 65-65-68-71, over the 6903 yard, par 71, Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club.
“ I felt like I knew the golf course well from last year and the way my short game and putter was working,” said Briscoe who was carrying brand new irons and putter for the week. “I felt like I could attack the flagstick and not really worry about making bogey if I missed the green.”
Briscoe, 60th on the money list going into the week earned $33,566 for the victory, and moved into 4th place on the money list.
Jesse Hutchins (Kirkersville, OH) finished in second place after carding a two-under par 69 for a four day total of thirteen-under par 271. Hutchins collected $16,735 for his runner-up finish.
Jason Dillard (Cullman, AL) posted a final round one-under par 70 to finish alone in third place at 273. He earned $11,141.
Todd Pinneo (Fayetteville, AR) posted a six-over par 77 to head up the Northwest Arkansas contingency for a four round total of three-over par 287. Beau Glover(Fayetteville, AR) and Aaron Clark (Harrison, AR) posted four-over par 288's for the week, while Jon Whitaker (Springdale, AR) finished at five-over par 289 after a six over par 77 closing round.
The Hooters Golf Tour will be in Miami, Oklahoma next week at the Peoria Ridge Golf Club for the $200,000 Buffalo Run Casino Classic.
