Lunde Captures Nationwide Title

Columbus, OH (July 27, 2008) …Another week on the Nationwide Tour, another win for Hooters Tour alumni. Former Hooters member Bill Lunde captured his first Nationwide Tour title Sunday at The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational. (picture courtesy of Badz/PGA TOUR)The former UNLV golfer fired rounds of 67-72-67-73, including a chip in for birdie on the final hole, for a four day total of five-under par 279 and a one stroke victory over fellow Hooters Tour alum Dustin Bray and a three stroke victory over fellow Hooters alum and playing partner in the final round Josh Broadaway. Broadaway finished T-6 after the starting the day in second place.
"Between Josh (Broadaway) holing from the fairway like he did, and me chipping in, that was a pretty cool finish. Awesome," said Lunde. "He chipped in three times yesterday when we played together so I guess it was my turn. The time I took away from golf gave me a new perspective on working, and how fortunate we are to play golf for a living. It's a special thing we get to do so I appreciate it a lot more than I used to."
With the victory, Lunde collects $135,000 and moves to seventh on the season long money list and almost assures himself of being in the TOP 25 at season’s end. The TOP 25 at season’s end will earn their 2009 PGA TOUR cards.
