Former Hooters Player Wins First Title
Wichita, KS (August 10, 2008)…With a final round even par 71 Sunday at the Nationwide Tour’s Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, former Hooters Tour member Scott Piercy captured his first career Nationwide title. (picture courtesy of getty images)The former San DiegoState golfer fired rounds of 64-62-65-71 for a four day total of twenty-two-under par 262 and a two stroke win over Daniel Summerhays, Spencer Levin and Hunter Haas. Piercy’s final total also set the tournament scoring record.
With the win, Piercy collects $94,500 and moves to 34th on the Nationwide Tour’s money list with over $118,000 in earnings in ten events. Piercy is nearly $30,000 outside of the TOP 25.
Piercy played the Hooters Tour from 2005-2007, Piercy had seven top ten finishes in 17 events played including a win in the season opening event in the 2006 season in Orlando, Florida. Piercy collected nearly $80,000 in earnings over those three seasons. Piercy also captured "The Ultimate Game" with a $2,000,000 first prize last summer.
