Former Hooters Tour Winner Wins First Title
St. Louis, MO (September 7, 2008)…With a two-under par 68 in Sunday’s final round of The BMW Championship, former Hooters Tour winner Camilo Villegas captured his first ever PGA TOUR title (picture courtesy of Ehrmann/Getty Images).The former Florida golfer fired rounds of 65-66-66-68 for a four day total of fifteen-under par 265 and a two stroke win over Dudley Hart. The twenty-six year old led wire-to-wire.
"I learned what it takes to win, and I learned that I'm good enough to win, even though it didn't happen (last week)," Villegas said. "We had one guy (Vijay Singh) that came and just killed us that day, but that's okay. I just kept the momentum riding from last week and kept hitting good shots and kept thinking positive and kept rolling good putts, and it all happened to fall in place.
With the win, Villegas collects $1,260,000 and moves to the 2nd spot on the FedEX Cup points list with only one event remaining on the schedule.
