"Major" Win In Columbia

The Capital Chevrolet-Hyundai Classic
Country Club @ Woodcreek Farms
September 11-14, 2008

Elgin, SC (September 14, 2008) - With rounds of 65-67-68-67, Major Manning (Daytona Beach, FL) captured his first professional  title in winning the Capitol Chevrolet and Hyundai Classic.  His 21-under par total of 267 earned him a one stroke victory at the Woodcreek Farms Country Club.  Manning also earned the first place check of $33, 566.

Tied for second place at one stroke back with 268 totals were Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, TX) and Brennan Webb (Largo, FL).  Andrew closed with a 68 while Brennan fired a 66 for low round of the day.

Manning, an alumnus of Augusta State, hurt his back earlier in the year, and attributed his success this week to electric stem therapy treatments he takes twice a day. “I can finally play pain-free, and that has made all the difference.”  Manning said “…the course set up perfectly for a long hitter. The rough was higher, and you were rewarded for hitting the fairway”.

Finishing behind the leaders were Josh Teater, (Lexington, KY) who carded a 69 for a 271 total, and Scott Stallings (Knoxville, TN) (68) with a total of 272. Leading scores from South Carolina golfers were Alex Hamilton (Aiken) with a 273 and Chip Deason (Lexington) with a 275.

The next stop for the NGA Hooters Golf Tour will be September 15-21 at the Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans, GA for the $200,000 Kandy Waters Memorial Classic.
