Former Hooters Tour Member Wins Fourth Title
San Antonio, TX (October 12, 2008)…With a six-under par 64 in Sunday’s final round of The Valero Texas Open, former Hooters Tour Player of The Year Zach Johnson captured his fourth PGA TOUR title (picture courtesy of Feldman/Getty Images).The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native fired rounds of 69-66-62-64 for a four day total of nineteen-under par 261 and a two stroke win over former Hooters player Mark Wilson, Charlie Wi and Tim Wilkinson.
"I've been working on my putting over the last six weeks with my teachers, and it really paid off this week," Johnson said. "I had a tough year, but the putts started to fall in today, and that's why I'm at the top of the leaderboard."
With the win, Johnson collects $810,000 and moves to 55th on the money list.
Johnson played the Hooters Tour during the 2001 and 2002 seasons and the first two events of the 2003 season collecting four wins and Player of the Year honors in 2001. In his 38 starts, Johnson made the cut in 36 with 24 top tens and over $206,700 in earnings and had a scoring average of 69.051
