Former Hooters Tour Members Wins 2nd Title
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (March 1, 2009)…With a four-under par 68 in the final round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic Sunday, former Hooters Tour member Mark Wilson captured his second career PGA TOUR title (picture left courtesy of Graythen/Getty Images).The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin native carded rounds of 66-64-69-68 for a four day total of thirteen-under par 267 and a two stroke victory over J.J. Henry.
The University of North Carolina alum takes home $648,000 for his win and moves from 135th on the FedExCup Points standings to 23rd.
"I was looking at going to Honda with my worst start in my career, now it's the best start to the year," Wilson said. "I couldn't ask for anything better."
In four seasons on the Hooters Tour (1998-2001), Wilson collected three wins and more than $167,000 in earnings. In his sixty-nine career starts on the Hooters Tour, Wilson made the cut in sixty-one with twenty-two top ten’s.
