Dothan, AL (September 6, 2009)…Early round leader Jim Renner (Plainville, MA) was able to finish what he start at the Dothan Classic presented by Michelob Ultra by posting a thirteen under par 275 total and securing his first NGA Hooters Tour win.
 
Renner, a former Johnson & Wales University (Miami, FL) golfer, posted rounds of 66-70-66-73 to hold off a charging Russell Knox (Jacksonville Beach, FL) who finished at twelve under par 276, one stroke back.

“Last week I hit the ball really well but wasn’t making anything so I went to the trunk and started using my belly putter and the ball started finding the hole” said the 25 year old Renner on his keys to victory “It’s nice to get rewarded by your putter when you’re hitting it well with your irons”.
 
Grant Leaver (Centerville, TN) fired a final round 67 to move from a tie for 11th to a solo 3rd finish at eleven under par 277 while Shawn Stefani (Baytown, TX) finished in solo 4th at ten under par 278. 
 
NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL) and Travis Bertoni (Paso Robles, CA) finished in a tie for 5th position after posting nine under par 279 while Ben Briscoe (Wales) and Alabama native David Miller (Daphne, AL) posted eight under par 280 and will share 7th place.
 
Former University of Alabama golfer Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) heads up the rest of the Alabama contingency after posting eight under par 280 while five time Alabama Open champion Todd Bailey (Spanish Fort, AL) finished at six under par 282. Local Dothan professional Heath West finished in a tie for 42nd at three over par 291.
 
“It’s great to get a win out here. The golf course was tough and you couldn’t make many mistakes with your irons, fortunately I was able to come out on top” commented Renner on his week at the Dothan Classic.
  
Renner takes home $33,566 for the win while Knox receives $16,671 for his runner up finish.
 
Next week the NGA Hooters Tour heads to Philadelphia, MS for the Silver Star Resort and Casino Golf Classic presented by Michelob Ultra contested over the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club (Azaleas Course).
