Philadelphia, MS (September 13, 2009)…Russell Knox (Jacksonville Beach, FL) overcame a one stroke deficit to finish at twenty-four under par 264 to notch his first career NGA Hooters Tour win at the Silver Star Hotel & Casino Golf Classic over the Azaleas course at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. “It’s a great feeling, greatest day of my career” said the 24 year old Knox of his victory “so many great players out here (Hooters Tour) I’m just happy to finally get a win.”
 
The Scottish born Knox carded rounds of 65-65-66-68 en route to a two stroke victory over third round leader Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) who finished at twenty-two under par 266.
 
“I did everything pretty well this week especially taking advantage of the par 5’s (five eagles on the week). Saturday was a bit of a struggle but I managed to get through it and give myself a chance today. That’s a big difference between winning out here and just finishing well” commented Knox on his keys to victory.
 
Early round leader Jerrett Hamilton (Richardson, TX) finished in solo third at twenty-one under par 267 while Travis Bertoni (Paso Robles, CA) posted sixteen under par 272 earning a solo 4th finish.
               
Kyle Ellis (Senatobia, MS), Jesse Hutchins (Kirkersville, OH) and current NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL) each posted fourteen under par 274 and will share a 7th place finish while Travis Hampshire (Zephyrhills, FL) and Todd Bailey (Spanish Fort, AL) will share 10th place after each finished at thirteen under par 275.
 
Trey Denton (Canton, MS) heads up the rest of the Mississippi contingency at The Silver Star Hotel & Casino Golf Classic after finishing at six under par 282 while Kevin Jones (Terry, MS) posted four under par 284 for the tournament.
 
Knox takes home $33,566 for the win while Affrunti earned $16,671 for his runner up finish.
 
The NGA Hooters Tour will take a week off before returning to action in Augusta, GA at the 2009 Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors contested over the Gordon Lakes Country Club inside Fort Gordon military base.
