Orlando, FL (October 28, 2009)…With a clutch birdie putt on the second playoff hole Wednesday, Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) held off Ryan Henry (Tulsa, OK) to win his first event of the season at The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 7,036 yard, par 72 Orange Tree Golf Club.The former University of Illinois golfer carded rounds of 68-73-68 for a three day total of seven-under par 209, while Henry carded an even par 72 after opening rounds of 69 and 68.
Affrunti takes home $10,763 for his victory, while Henry takes home $5,366 for his runner-up finish. With his first place finish Wednesday, Affrunti jumps to the top of the member’s money list. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
The Bridgestone Winter Series travels to Orlando’s North Shore Golf Club next week for week 3 of the season with action starting Tuesday, November 3, 2009 and ending on Thursday, November 5, 2009.
