Haughton, LA (July 16, 2006)…Kris Blanks (Rincon, GA) made an eagle on the first playoff hole Sunday at The Olde Oaks Classic over the 7319 yard, par 72 Olde Oaks GC to defeat Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL) and earn his second Hooters Tour title of the season and third of his career.

“I missed four cuts in a row after winner earlier this season and I sure hope that streak doesn’t happen again,” said Blanks. “It feels good to play good again, I knew it was coming back I just didn’t expect it to come this fast.”

“I was six back starting the day and when one of the cart guys told me on six that Camilo was three over for the day and I was two-under at the time, I knew I had a shot.”

Blanks and Potter finished the tournament tied at twenty-one under par 267 after the two fired a seven-under par 65 and a three-under par 69 in the final round forcing a sudden death playoff. After Potter’s chance for eagle missed, Blanks sealed the deal with a 15 foot eagle putt. Blanks finished the week with scores of 65-68-69-65.

“On 18 I was about a foot inside Ted and he left his putt short and gave me a good read. I knew I wanted to make the putt on 18 because I didn’t want to have to play ten again because he is left handed and would have had the advantage.”

Ty Harris (Longwood, FL), Ben Lammi (Queensland, Australia) and Camilo Benedetti (Colombia) finished in a three way tie for third place, one behind Blanks and Potter. The trio finished the tournament at twenty-under par 268 for the week.

Andrew Lanahan (Baton Rouge) headed up the contingent with ties to the state of Louisiana in the Olde Oaks Classic after firing a two-over par 74 Sunday for a four day total of five-under par 283. Former LSU Tiger William Lanier (Augusta, GA) also fired a two-over par 74 Sunday and finished at one-under par 287 for the week, while Aaron Williams (Baton Rouge) finished three-over par for the week.

With the win, Blanks earns $20,233 for the week, while Potter takes home $9,982 for his runner up finish.

The tour heads to Blytheville, Arkansas next week for the Thunder Bayou Classic.
