Haines City, FL (January 21, 2010)…Former University of South Alabama golfer Ryan Gildersleeve (Clearwater, FL) carded a two-under par 70 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 6903 yard, par 72 Diamondback Golf Club to capture his first Hooters title of the season.The twenty-eight year old carded rounds of 66-65-70 for a three day total of fifteen-under par 201 and a one stroke victory over former Clemson University golfer Phillip Mollica (Anderson, SC). Mollica used the strength of a final round six-under par 66 to jump from a tie for ninth to start the round to a lone second place finish at fourteen-under par.
Gildersleeve takes home $12,179 for his first Bridgestone Winter Series victory, while Mollica takes home $5,962 for his first runner-up of the season.
With the victory Thursday, Ryan Gildersleeve jumps to fourth place on the season long money list with $23,574 while Michael Thompson maintains his second place position at $27,527. Joe Affrunti continues to lead the money list with over $28,600 in earnings through eleven events. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
The Bridgestone Winter Series travels to Rio Pinar Country Club next week for The Tour Championship with an additional $25,000 added to the purse. Action begins Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
