Longs, SC(March 8, 2010) …The National Golf Association’s Hooters Professional Golf Tour announced today that the Nationwide Tour’s Fresh Express Classic has granted an exemption into the event to The Hooters Tour leading money winner over the first four (4) events of the 2010 season: Ocala, FL, Fernandina Beach, FL, Hickory, NC, & Gainesville, GA. The Hooters Tour member who accumulates the most money in those four events will earn the exemption into The Fresh Express Classic at TPC Stonebrae.
 
The 2nd annual Fresh Express Classic is scheduled for April 12-18, 2010, at TPC Stonebrae, located atop the rugged East Bay hillside overlooking San Francisco Bay. All four rounds will be televised by Golf Channel.
 
“Although the Fresh Express Classic is a relatively new event on the Nationwide Tour schedule, it has already gained a reputation as one of the tour’s toughest tests,” said NGA/Hooters Tour President Robin L. Waters. “We are truly excited to give one of our players such a coveted early season Nationwide Tour start.”
 
NFL legend and 2010 Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Rice will serve as tournament host of the Fresh Express Classic and the Jerry Rice 127 Foundation has been named as the “primary receiver” of the charitable proceeds generated by the annual event at TPC Stonebrae. An accomplished golfer, Rice also will receive a sponsor’s exemption to compete against the pros.
 
At the inaugural Fresh Express Classic, won by 3-time Nationwide Tour winner Michael Sim (-18), former Hooters Tour members who finished top 10 included John Kimbell (T-2), Matt Every (T-4), Nick Flanagan (T-6) & Ryan Armour (10).
