Longs, SC…The NGA/Hooters Professional Golf Tour announces it’s first ever PGA TOUR Q-school preparatory series beginning September 28-30 and running through October 12-14, 2010. The events will be in addition to the NGA/Hooters Tour Pro Series events scheduled from March through September.
The series will hosted at Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, GA (September 28-30), PGA Golf Club’s Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie, FL (October 5-7) and The Auburn University Club in Auburn, Alabama (October 12-14).
“We continue working to offer our players the best opportunity in preparing for such a challenging task,” said NGA Hooters Tour President Robin L. Waters. “We felt the time was right for such a series and what better way to prepare our players than to host competitive events at the same sites just prior to the actual PGA qualifiers.”
The Q-school Preparatory events will be run prior to the start of the Bridgestone Central Florida Winter Series and Carolina Winter Series. The events will feature field sizes of 100 to 120 players, 54-hole event with a 36-hole cut to the top 33% and ties and an 85% payback of member’s entry fees. The Q-School Preparatory Series will also reimburse PGA Tour Q-School fees ($4,500.00) for the top two different finishers at each of the three events for a total of six Q-school reimbursements.
The NGA/Hooters Tour is the 3rd largest men’s 72-hole professional golf tour in the country behind the PGA and Nationwide Tours and currently conducts over 50 professional golf events throughout the U.S. annually. We boasts alumni such as 2009 British Open Champion Stewart Cink, 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson, 2003 PGA Champion Shaun Micheel, 2003 British Open winner Ben Curtis, 2003 US Open winner Jim Furyk, two time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen, British Open and PGA Champion John Daly, as well as British Open winner Tom Lehman, PGA Champion David Toms, 2003 Tour Championship Winner Chad Campbell, 2004 & 2005 Reno Tahoe Open winner Vaughn Taylor and TPC winner Craig Perks to name just a few. All told, the NGA/Hooters Tour’s alumni have an incredible 11 “Majors” to their credit. The NGA/Hooters Tour has helped hundreds of professionals acquire their PGA, Senior PGA, and Nationwide Tour cards. In fact, 48% of the players that earned their 2010 PGA Tour card, and 53% of the players that earned full exempt status on the Nationwide Tour started their careers on the NGA/Hooters Tour.
