Longs, SC—Former NGA Hooters Tour player Brendon de Jonge fired a final round 65 to finish in third in The Greenbrier Classic at the Old White Course in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
de Jonge’s third-place effort was his second top-5 finish of the season and vaulted him to 20th in the money standings, virtually assuring the former Virginia Tech golfer a PGA Tour Card for the 2011 season. His podium finish also gave de Jonge three top-10s in his last five starts.
Roger Tambellini, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 1999 and 2000, tied for fourth with a 15-under 265 total for the week. The fourth-place finish was his best effort on the PGA Tour in 72 starts.
Chris Stroud, a past winner on the NGA Hooters Tour, headed a gaggle of former NGA golfers that finished T9. Aron Price, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 2005 and 2006; Jim Furyk, a 1992 NGA Hooters member; and Boo Weekley, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 2006, all finished with a four-day total of 266 to tie Stroud for ninth.
On the Nationwide Tour, Scott Stallings, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour last season, finished tied for seventh in the Cox Classic. The seventh-place finish was Stallings’ third top-10 of the season on the Nationwide Tour. Former NGA players Paul Claxton and Scott Gutschewski also finished the tournament tied for seventh.
Scott Sterling, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 2005 and 2006, and Jim Herman, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 2001, both finished in a tie for 11th at the Cox Classic. Herman’s fifth top-15 of the season moves him into 11th on the money list.
Former NGA golfers Ryan Armour, Kyle Thompson and Ron Whittaker finished in a tie for 15th. All told, eight past NGA players finished inside the top-15 on the Nationwide Tour this past week.

All told, the NGA Hooters Tour’s alumni have an incredible 12 “Majors” to their credit. The NGA Hooters Tour has helped hundreds of professionals acquire their PGA, Senior PGA, and Nationwide Tour cards. In fact, 48% of the players that earned their 2010 PGA Tour card, and 53% of the players that earned full exempt status on the Nationwide Tour started their careers on the NGA Hooters Tour.
