Longs, SC—In the Nationwide Tour’s PHS Wichita Open, current NGA member Roberto Castro played his way into the tournament by finishing T19 at last week’s Cox Classic and continued his hot hand on Day 1, firing a 7-under 64 that placed him in a tie for second. Castro, who has played on the NGA Hooters Tour since 2007, backed up his first round with a scorching 63 on Day 2, giving him the lead at 15-under par.

Veteran NGA player Nick Rousey shot a 68 in the Monday Qualifier to make the field and bettered it with an opening-round 67 in just his second Nationwide Tour start. Rousey backed his 67 up with a second-round 70 to make the cut.

Michael Schachner, a current NGA member, also made it through the Monday Qualifier and opened with a 68 at PHS Wichita Open. Schachner shot another 68 on Day 2 and will be around for the weekend.
