Five Past Players Finish in Top 8 at Wyndham

Longs, SC—Former NGA Hooters Tour member David Toms finished second at the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Toms, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour for two seasons, shot a final-day 64 but came up one shot short of catching Arjun Atwal. If Toms had won, the 2001 PGA Champion winner would have given former NGA Hooters Tour players 10 wins on the PGA Tour this season.

Although No. 10 will have to wait, a plethora of past players finished inside the top 10 at the classic course.

John Rollins, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 1998, finished T3 after shooting rounds of 64-65-68-65 for an 18-under 262. Past player Lucas Glover finished one behind Rollins with a 17-under par 263 total.

Chris Riley, who played on the NGA Hooters Tour in 1997, and Scott Piercy, a longtime NGA Hooters Tour player, both finished the tournament at 16-under par and with eighth-place finishes.

With his T8 finish, Piercy moved into the top 125 in the final FedExCup standings, jumping from 140th to 125th in the FedExCup standings and claiming the final spot.

The NGA Hooters Tour is the 3rd largest men’s 72-hole professional golf tour in the country behind the PGA and Nationwide Tours and boasts an impressive list of alumni.
