Hawkinsville, GA....Jeremy Wilkinson wins his first professional event
by one stroke over Tyler Williamson.
Wilkinson of South Bend, Indiana fired a 4-under-par 32 to capture the
Southern Hills Classic title. Wilkinson will take home the first place
prize check of $20,000 for his efforts. "I had missed a couple of short
putts on Friday and thought that it has cost me the golf tournament"
commented Wilkinson "thinking we were only going to be playing 36 holes
this week."
The NGA Tour Staff was forced to shorten the event to 45 holes due to
over 5 inches of rain that fell on Saturday and the overnight in
southern Georgia.
"I really putted the ball well and was able to get up and down on the
first couple of holes today to stay right in the thick of things" said
Wilkinson. Tyler Williamson held a one stroke lead going into the final
nine holes today over Wilkinson and three others.
Justin Bolli of Roswell, Georgia finished alone in third carding a 2
under-par 34 today.
The NGA Tour moves to Augusta, Georgia next week for the "Kandy" Waters
Memorial Classic to be played at The River Golf Club.
